Power system

Power system includes electric machines, power electronics, power transmission and distribution, smart grid, and electromechanical energy conversion (renewables). These all disciplines (courses) must work together to build a network of electrical power system which use, supply, and transmit the electric power in sizable regions like homes and industries. In these contexts, this power system is known as the power grid and can be broadly divided into generators that supply the power (e.g. power supplies), the transmission system that carries the power from the generating centers to the external loads(e.g. transformers and transmission lines),and the distribution system that feeds the power to nearby homes and industries(e.g. distribution transformers).Electric power systems are predominantly AC (alternating current), although a few select sections are DC (direct current). AC is preferred because it allows voltage levels to be changed with ease using a transformer. The voltage level of a DC system also can be changed, but doing so requires more sophisticated and expensive equipment using power electronics technology. Topics addressed include the energy conversion and conservation through more efficient electronic systems, intelligent energy management through smart grid approaches, and renewable energy technologies including solar cells (solar PV), wind turbine, and electric or hybrid vehicles. President University has nationally and internationally recognized lecturers who specialize in those aforementioned areas.
